Well, it was too much to hope that I wouldn't get this bug. I started throwing up around 3pm yesterday. Michael got pizza for dinner, but only he and the 2 little girls ate. Then he got everyone off to bed.
I remember thinking in my fog that he sure got everyone to bed quickly. This morning, everyone got up in the same clothes they were wearing yesterday. Hmm...yes, bedtime goes more quickly when you don't have to change into pajamas. And there was no flossing. I assume he didn't want to put his hands in all those sick mouths. Ah well.
Today the queasiness comes and goes. But all my joints ache and I'm really weak and shaky. I did take a shower, but that made me feel very relaxed and sleepy.
But I have a very perky almost-2-year old who is not going to let Mama sleep, and everyone else is in some form of flu-induced fog.

A New Week
On Friday night, Leah complained that her tummy hurt. About 9pm, she woke up vomiting all over her bed. That continued about every 1.5 hrs all night. Saturday she was feverish and lethargic, and was still vomiting. On Saturday, Olivia had one Enormous throwing up session - in the van of course. At least she was in the carseat that is easy to take out and pull apart for washing.
Leah was still sick yesterday, but Hannah started vomiting last night. About every 1.5 hrs, all night. This morning, Leah has a mild fever, but is keeping food and water down. Hannah is refusing all food and is passed out on the couch. Nathan started throwing up around 10am, and he's on the other couch.
So I have 3 out of 4 with some sort of nasty intestinal problem. Please Lord, don't let me get it!

Hanging in there...
My two bigs are still pretty sick today. Nathan is hoarse and raspy, Hannah is constantly sniffling and is tired. We didn't do school again today, but otherwise, I was pretty productive.
Laundry is done, dishes are going, dinner in the crockpot. I was able to write up instructions for How To Do Laundry. In our home, the resident 10 year old is in charge of laundry (at least colored things, not whites - children and bleach make me nervous). But baby will be coming 6 weeks or so before Hannah turns 10, and I wanted to have the directions made up and ready to go in case I need her to cover laundry for a few days. With 6 people (almost 7), we need to do a load of laundry every day.
I'm not sure yet where I want to post the instructions. If I leave it in the laundry room area, she will forget to do the gathering of stuff upstairs. I don't think it's wise to expect her to carry the directions around with her though. Hmm...I'll have to ponder that a bit more.
I'm feeling well still, but unusually tired today. I think that sick bug is trying to get me. I think I'll settle into the recliner with my knitting and some coffee for awhile, while the children are happily occupied. I'm teaching myself to knit socks (with the help of YouTube)!
Coming soon: I have had some thoughts on a few random topics that I want to share. My grandmother died in August, and it prompted me to think about how I would want my own funeral/memorial/whatever you call it done. I also have been pondering deeply the role of women as Christians. I have some thoughts, but I know they will be controversial and I'm not sure if I'm quite brave enough to post them here. I will keep thinking and praying on this one.

Week 2 of the New Year
This week is starting off pretty well, I suppose. My two big children are both sick with a nasty barky cough and sore throat. The two little girls are completely recovered from last weeks cold and are bouncing on the furniture. We might go over to Target to just wander around - everyone needs something new to look at today.
I did laundry, did dishes, paid a couple bills, organized a junk drawer, got some ideas on how to store all the recharging cords in my life, and found a few blogs that I've fallen in love with - see the side bar for new links!
Olivia is insisting on some snuggle time right this second, so I'm signing off. Have a great day!

Not sure how that happened...
We have had an amazingly productive day. We have complete ALL schoolwork, plus did our devotions and piano practice this morning. And I popped out to go to the drug store for cold meds because half the family has colds (including me). And I also got a sizeable chunk of homeschool business done - filed my affadavit, made some phone calls regarding a field trip, emailed by local group about a couple items.
A very satisfying day indeed. Hope your day was great as well!

Autumn and Laundry
New blog look - because it's autumn and because orange is my favorite color! I need to dig out the Autumn wreath for the front door...
Today is supposed to be the last day of hot weather around here, high of 96 degrees. Tomorrow is supposed to be 88, and we begin the Autumn Slide from there! Ahhh, I can't wait. I am sooo tired of being hot and sticky all the time. There's actually a rumor that it may rain on Tuesday!!!!
And so, about laundry. Sigh. We do a load of laundry every day around here. Sometimes two. My grandmother prefered to have a laundry day, but she was chained to her machines and piles of laundry for a whole day!!! So I do a load each day. I try to have it folded and ready for the children to put away by about 8:30am or so, but it's a lofty goal.
I do have an ironing day, usually Tuesday. I leave the board set up all day, and iron in 2-3 item increments. It seems to work for us.
Uh oh. Fighting downstairs, gotta go.
P. S. My girls are getting sick...

Sigh...
Baby Leah is sick. She's sneezing snot all over the place. Blech! I'm feeling lethargic and on the verge of tears today, so I figure she shared her cold with me. Nice.
My menu this past week went well. I'm going through my pantry stock. I'm beginning to see the shelves.
This week I'm going to have to be more creative. I'm budgeting $40 for the week's groceries, mostly to be used on dairy, produce, and a couple essential items like sugar and some spices I've run out of. I'll post the menu on Monday, I think. I think I'll have to do a big batch of chili to get through the week - that should last 2 dinners and 2 lunches. Perhaps some cabbage rolls, then back to creative uses of chicken. And probably 1 vegetarian meal.
Anybody else out there using up stuff?
